Scottish and Southern Energy has sold three of its wind farms for £173.6 million
SSE, the second biggest energy supplier in the UK, has sold the three wind farms to renewable energy company Infinis.
The three wind farms have a total capacity of nearly 100MW, and are located in Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland and the third in Northern Ireland.
Scottish and Southern Energy claimed that Infinis have purchased the 30-megawatt farm Dalwinston Park and the 37-megawatt Minsca plants in Scotland for cash.
Infinis will continue to sell the power generated from the 30-megawatt Slieve Divena farm in Northern Ireland on a 14-year power purchase agreement.
The purchase has doubled Infinis’ wind energy capacity to 174 megawatts. The company hope to reach 230 megawatts by 2013.
SSE recently announced plans for Scotland’s first offshore wind turbine testing facility, to be to test and develop the next generation of offshore wind turbines.
